I hope this finds you all having an enjoyable summer.

I see Ratita, Spatz, GottaWonder and a post to Princess AWNW..................are Taylor or Sherlock here?

Hello to you who are!  Peace, blessings, love to all!

As soon as I am able I will catch up on posts/reading..............

Until then, just checking in, and still trying to familiarize myself w/Dreamwidth.

Thus far my summer is mostly enjoyable as....
1) to date The Horde (the gazillion tourists we deal with annually) isn't getting on my nerves as much as usual
2) am seeing more of fam and having some good times
3) the weather is, as yet, not too accursed hot and humid
4) I am...drumroll please.....semi well rested! YES!! You read right!
5) because I am working a modified work schedule to account for the night noises, and the "quiet time" in town (2am to 9am) and sleeping then, vs trying to sleep thru all the noise and then having to get up to go to work with little or not sleep
6) I have adopted, successfully, a movement routine (refuse to call it exercise), and am eating sort of but not full on balls to the wall KETO, and am drinking less alcohol  -- ALL this to lower what became a blood pressure issue after my 2nd vaccination
7) however have discovered Gin, which is pretty effing tasty.....with seltzer, ho'made rose simple syrup and splash o' lemon

So yeah, all is pretty good. The blood pressure issue, as mentioned, became a thing within ONE week of having my 2nd jab, about a year ago. I had just had my annual physical and all was great as usual. Everything normal, including BP. (In point of fact throughout my entire life it had been consistently LOWER than 120/80. So, imagine my surprise when all of a sudden it was spiking to stroke level numbers. Initially, I had no idea what was going on, as I'd never experienced high BP.  I thought surely that could not be the issue!! Well, it was. I am non-plussed to be taking meds, but it was that or stroke out, so, shrug. But I haven't gone peaceably into being a medication taker. Thus the lifestyle modifications; by year end, if possible, I want to be OFF the BP meds. I understand that may not be possible, and yes, safety and health first, I will stay on it if necessary (low dose 5mg) but will be very happy indeed if I can jettison it.

Anyway, that's that. Nothing to steer you screeching and crashing into middle age like a health scare.

But here I am. Still here, w/sass, verve and aplomb. Oh, and I am grayer of late, which I quite like.

Hmmmmmm.....what else is new. Oh! My new jam (part of) at work is as grant writer and I have successfully written nearly two million dollars worth of grants (that we have been awarded) in recent history.  The success is a good feeling; the other aspects of my work, while a good contribution to our community and society, don't leave me with that buoyant successful feeling, they rather drain me, so this new responsibility has helped restore some balance in the way I feel about and approach my job.

I am still part of the Women's Group I created a year ago, and we are doing great work together. It has inspired us, we have learned from each other and grown. More about all that later.

Gotta get back to the hustle that is my employment.

Cheers!

Good to hear that you're alive and well and enjoying ho-made rose syrup along with the best and rest of us, dear Bee!

I made a batch a couple of weeks ago and forgot to make charming little labels for charming little bottles.

Blood pressure is a serious thing. Sometimes when one has low blood pressure, one has to take medication to keep it even lower (like me). Bodies are mysterious. I hope you don't have to stay on your medication for very long - which one is it? I've met them all.

Gin... a gimlet with rose syrup and rainbow glitter. I think that's my plan for the evening, post balter.

Hiya my dear wee Bee!

ACE cough (not that ace) is a really common side effect; I had it from one of the lols/lils I used to take... bisoprolol, atenolol, ramipril. Almost everyone gets the cough. I'm still on atenolol, but a very low dose. I don't think I cough. Do I cough?

The rose syrup... it's still in the fridge, and I should check it. I came home too late (from sitting on the porch with my near-ninety neighbours) to make a rose-scented gimlet, but there's always tonight.

Sometimes being naughty is a must. I will discuss this pleasure in another post.

Welcome, dear Bee! I’m glad to see you around. Blood pressure is a mystery, isn’t it. I get medication to keep my low blood pressure from going too low - it’s an endless source of jokes with medical personnel how my blood pressure is below all the scales and limits. Oh well.
The gin and rose syrup sounds fabulous! I will have to try that!

Your blood pressure sounds a lot like mine at times, dear Bee. What a shock this must have been. Did the doctors offer assistance in finding out more about the suspected reaction so that you can continue to get immunizations but keep on avoiding this reaction?
